Will My Children Collect Anything if I am
Approved for Disability?

If you are approved, your child can also collect his own benefits based on your earnings record.  Again, an award of benefits to your dependent does not reduce your check.

Your dependent child can collect if:

1. he/she is unmarried; and

2. he/she is under the age of 18 (under 20 if a full time student) or he/she is older than 18 and has a disability that started before age 22

Each eligible child may receive a monthly payment equal to one-half  of your full disability amount, subject to a family maximum limit for all dependent children and spouse.
